At a glittering ceremony at the storied Caesars Palace Las Vegas Hotel & Casino on Tuesday, March 13, the CUNA Marketing & Business Development Council Awards held its annual Diamond Awards Celebration to recognize exceptional efforts in credit union marketing and business development. This year’s awards competition received a whopping 1,093 entries in 36 categories, including direct mail, digital marketing, branding, membership campaigns, and more.

UMe won in the Brand Awareness Campaign category for their Bank on UMe Campaign . This head-turning campaign features UMe’s signature UMe Emu, a sharp tongued, 7-foot-tall, animated bird who pulls no punches when it comes to going after big banks. With bold patterns and this attractive mascot, the campaign is recognizable across Southern California.
Town & Country FCU won in the Outdoor Campaign category for the For Town & Country & You Campaign. To increase brand awareness, “For Town & Country & You” appeared on buses and bus shelters across Portland and South Maine. By substituting the word “You” with other member-centric benefits, the campaign provided flexibility and range in its impact and effectiveness.
UNIFY FCU won in the Membership Marketing category for the Raiders Sponsorship Campaign. After partnering with the NFL’s Oakland Raiders, UNIFY launched “The Blackout” checking promotion. Incentivizing new members to sign-up and existing members to add new products and services, UNIFY offered a treasure trove of prizes, benefits and other Raiders loot.
UNIFY FCU won another diamond award in the Membership Marketing category for the Rams Sponsorship Campaign. After partnering with the NFL’s LA Rams, UNIFY launched a two-phased advertising campaign across multiple channels. The “Cover Two” and “Trips Right” promotions offered prize packages, benefits and other Rams’ loot for member sign-ups and upgrades.
Tendto CU won in Rebrand/New Corporate Identity category for their Brand Identity. Formerly known as Erie Community Credit Union, the credit union needed to establish a new brand identity. The playful Tendto name resulted in “We tend to see things differently” tagline. Augmented visually, the colorful circular brand identity rolled out to much acclaim across the region, attracting both new members and fans of design.
